Manne maailmalla interview

the interview is from 2008,

translated by llazer , thank you
First of all the context and what show is all about: Word “Manne” means a Romani (or a gypsy) but it’s considered bit of a improper and rude word to use when referring to this group of people. In this one-man-comedy show the actor Santeri Ahlgren (a Romani himself) plays several characters which reflect and exaggerate the stereotypes people have about the Romani people. I guess the goal is to make viewers laugh and at the same reconsider their attitudes.

Anyways, in this episode Manne was trying to form a music union for Romani musicians and he asked Ville how he liked the idea.

Translation part (bluntly):

M: Hi brother!
(Hugging.)
V: Oh, you have really dressed up! That so, so high and mighty!
M: Yeah, I even had my trousers pressed, look!
V: Well, you have pressing! You have so big leg muscles that even your pressings wear out.
M: Have you been working as a painter???
V: I was painting an attic.
M: Oh, you have painted!
V: Yeah and I thought this would also be a fashion statement!

(The rink of laughing people.
M: They didn’t laugh at me!)

M: Well, this Manne is trying to form an union for the gypsy musician so that we could play legally and also, maybe, get paid for doing it. What do you think about that?
V: A music union for the dark (=gypsys)… Well, well, that would be every accountants dream!!!

(Both laugh.)

M: You have pretty shady name also, HIM… That’s kind of a dark orchestra, I think… I mean the name is pretty good for the darks.

(Thumbs up.)

M: If Romani musicians now got their own union in the middle on these all unions, how would you feel about it?
V: That sounds fantastic. Finally it would feed few unemployed accountants and it really would be great if little by little the debts turned into receivables – this we have been waiting for. (Imitates gypsy way of speaking:) The violin sings but not for free.
M: Straight from Ankkarock I now tell to you that here we have this little Viljo (points Ville) who is one of the frontmen of our band… And in general… And his instrument mandolin!!!
V: (Nods.) A bass mandolin, to be exact. I have so fat knackwursts (=fingers) that I can’t really play the regular one...
M: And then we go straight to the lace making club.
